WEAPONS SYLLABUS

BONG ( Bo staff)

LEVEL 1 ( GREY)

  • Bo staff etiquette ( handling bo, bowing e.t.c)
  • Basic grips, Stances.
  • Basic blocks and strikes ( Line Work)
  • Basic terminology for bong

LEVEL 2 ( PURPLE)

  • Basic drills, figure 8 etc.
  • Bong hyung il bu – bong pattern no. 1

  • Basic 4 block drill with partner
  • 1 – 5 set sparring with partner

BONG ONE STEP TECHNIQUES

1 – 5 Attacker starts right leg back fighting stance, Bo on right side.

Defender starts from choon bee position. All kicks performed with right leg.

1. Attacker steps in right leg and performs downward strike to top of head. Defender steps back with right leg and performs double hand high block, keeping Bo in blocking position, and then right leg front kick to attackers mid section.

2. Same attack as above. Same defence as above and then defender pushes Bo to the left and performs right leg side kick.

3. Same attack as above. Same defence as above pushing Bo to left and perform right leg turning (roundhouse) kick.

4. Same attack as above. Same defence as above keeping Bo in blocking position as defender performs right leg push kick, stepping down right leg in front (front stance) and then spear to body from left side.

5. Same attack as above. Same defence as above but defender pushes Bo to the RIGHT and steps left with left leg and performs right leg side kick to attack floating ribs.

6-10 Both students start from right leg back fighting stance, last 2 inches of Bo touching for distance.

6. Attacker steps in right leg with side strike to temple. Defender steps back left leg and blocks. Defender then performs spear attack to throat.

7. Same attack as above. Same defence as above. Then defender performs downward attack to collar bone.

8. Same attack as above. Same defence as above. Then defender Leans back into reverse frontstance and performs one handed Strike to side of knee ( like a one handed low block motion)

9. Same attack as above. Same defence as above. Then defender Turns 180 degrees and perfoms spear attack in sitting stance ( horse stance)

10. Same attack as above. Same defence as above. Then defender Performs right temple strike then left temple strike.

Bo Staff – Demo Pattern # 1
Shui Bong

1.

Upward Groin Strike, & Low Block (Left Walking Stance)

 
2. Step forward, Low Block, High Block  
3. (Right, one leg stance), Guard, side defence Palm on bo
4. (left stance), Lunge with kihap, Low Block 1 finger grip on bo
5. Step forward, High Block  
6. Turn 270 degress in back heel stance low block, pivot 180 to back heel stance low block  
7. Repeat moves 1 - 5  
8. Turn 270 degrees into sitting stance low block, skip sitting stance low block. Kihap on skip  
9. Repeat move 1.  
10. Left walking stance, (stay static from last move), Double high block.  
11. Push staff to left, turning kick with kihap, step back and double strike Ending similar to ending in pattern number 1.

 

KNIFE SYLLABUS

LEVEL 1 ( RED & BLACK BELTS ONLY)

  • Dan gum ( short blade) etiquette ( handling knife etc)
  • Basic grips, knife techniques in line work.

  • Knife set sparring 1- 5
