P.U.M.A.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Professional Unification of Martial Arts is committed to providing
the highest quality martial arts training to all of its members.
In order to achieve this, all registered school instructors must
fulfil the following:
- Must have been training
in their specified Art for at least three years.
- Must pass P.U.M.A.
Instructors' certificate.
- Must be technically
proficient.
- Must maintain their
own training with their instructor on a regular basis.
P.U.M.A. is also committed
to providing a safe learning environment. Therefore it is important
that all instructors:
- Maintain regular
first aid training. A valid first aid certificate must be available
on request,
- Perform regular safety
checks at the training facility.
- Possess adequate Professional
indemnity Insurance.
- All instructors who
teach children must attend at least one Child Protection seminar
per year.
- All equipment provided
or sold to students must be approved by P.U.M.A.
P.U.M.A. has an active inclusiveness policy. In accordance with
this, the following guidelines are stressed to all instructors and
failure to adhere to them may result in disciplinary procedures
- All students, regardless
of age, race, cultural background, gender, disability and sexual
orientation must be allowed to train in an environment free
from harassment by instructors or students. Such behaviour
may include physical or verbal abuse, sexual harassment, rude
comments or "jokes" and refusal to cooperate with
others.
- All students are to
receive equality of treatment and opportunity, but appropriate
concessions can, and must, must be made in accordance with an
individual's specific needs.
- Where a student enters
a club with a specific need that the instructor has no experience
in, it is up to the instructor to research the individual's needs
thoroughly.
P.U.M.A. is committed
to providing value for money. Training fees should be in line with
other P.U.M.A. schools in the area and should compare favourably
to other associations which provide a comparable service.
It is the duty of all
registered school instructors to adhere to this mission statement
and to ensure that any assistant instructors are aware of its contents
and adhere to it also.

failure to comply with any aspects of the mission statement to be
