South Hams Southern Successes
50 Taekwon-do and Little PUMA students from the Totnes, Dartmouth and Kingsbridge PUMA Martial Art Schools, took part in the annual Southern PUMA Championships, held in Paignton.
It was the biggest event to date, with event organisers boasting over 500 competitors for this one day event. Kick boxers, Little PUMS's, Taekwon-doists as well as Tang Soo-Do students ventured from all over the country to take part in traditional events, kicking events, sparring, power tests as well as musical and weapon patterns.
The South Hams students went to this competition with great determination and came back with a remarkable 32 medals.
The most memorable wins were the two Little PUMA's from Kingsbridge (the 4-6 yr old martial arts programmed) who had to take part in the biggest category to date with 90 other competitors. Several hours later Isaac Broda Flynn won the Bronze medal and Marcel Purchase won silver.
Students are now preparing for the next PUMA National Championships which will be held for the first time in Cardiff.
