Taekwon-do gains two new Black Belts
 Sally and Mike Davies of the Totnes
taekwon-do school recently gained their PUMA taekwon-do
Black Belt at a National Grading held in Chippenham last
weekend.
Both husband and wife who live
in Paignton, travel to Totnes twice a week, and also have
been training regularly at the Paignton, Newton Abbot and
Plymstock clubs to enhance their training on their path
to becoming black belt.
At the actual event itself amongst
100 hundred others nationwide, had to prove themselves
in traditional patterns, blocks and attacks, kicks, sparring,
theory, breaking and then a gruelling spirit test, testing
not only their fitness but their black belt team work and
indomitable spirit.
Master Gayle who recently recieved
his 7th Degree by the founders son in America, chaired
the examiners panel, and gave out the results of thier
passes on Tuesday. club members were delighted to see Sally
and Mike recieve their new black belt uniform at class.
Ms McGhie, the chief Instructor
for the South Hams PUMA taekwon-do schools, travelled with
Mr and Mrs davies to support and watch their pre-grading
and grading. Ms Mcghie says "both Sally and Mike were amazing,
they were trully focused and in control"
The two now await the official
results at the Presentation later this month, where they
will be awarded their embroidered black belts with their
names on, their PUMA tie and association badge, and their
1st Dan pin badge and certificate.
Also announced that night will
be the grade of pass, whether it be pass, credit or distinction.
The davies's will start their
first black belt duties at the South Hams and Torbay pre-grading
on Sunday held at dartmouth Leisure centre.
