Junior coloured belt Taekwon-do Championships

30 students took part from the South Hams schools at this fundraising event for CancerUK and the Exeter display Teams. It was an unexpected success, as there were around 200 children taking part at this small venue. More than a junior national event.

Unfortunately due to the large numbers, the tournament meant that competitors and families had to stay for most of the day. The instructor Lesley McGhie admired their perserverence and team spirit throughout the long day. It was for some students their first ever competition, and hope that they will be looking forward to their next taekwon-do event. New events excited the children, such as padded weapons sparring (Kendo sticks), flying kicks and weapons patterns.

All students were awarded a much deserved participation medal, with others taking home trophies for Bronze, Silver and Gold positions.
