UK Team Selection Success

After a very long day at Swindon (9am till 10pm), the UK ITF selections were successful for 5 of our South Hams students and Instructors so far. The adult sparring, breaking and junior special techniques have been rearranged for another day, as time ran out. Many different associations under the ukitf were present making it a tough day, but many puma students throughout the country dominated the event.

So we will have to wait another day to hear the success from those events, with some of our students waiting to compete.

Daniel Hendersons 1st degree boys selection league took literally all day, starting about 10.30am and finishing after 8pm. With over 30 boys competing against each other in a league system, for only 3 places in the team, (each having to go up against the other)Daniel had a long wait and tough competition. Nevertheless he won a few of his rounds and drew against another, showing that he was a worthy opponent. Darren Luker had a similar problem with a large amount of entries in his 2nd degree category, winning some and drawing some, also showing that he was up there in skill level amongst the best in the country.

The other 6 competitors after lengthy events, all found themselves invited to the 2007 World championships and are now part of the UK ITF Team.

The results as follows -

Corinne Sri Widada and Claire Roughley 2nd Degree Ladies Patterns

Steve Luker 2nd Degree Men's Patterns

Bob Janes Men's Breaking

Martin Luker Boys Sparring

Roxanne Winzer Girls Sparring.

So congratulations to everyone, what a magnificent achievement, a first for South Hams Taekwon-do.
